CAPRISA Communications Internship Programme
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a Science related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Demonstrated interest in communications, media, public relations and/or science.
- Basic knowledge of design and multimedia tools will be advantageous.
- An understanding of the difference between communications and marketing, the NGO sector and public health matters will be advantageous.
Personal Qualities and Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail, a highly organised planner and deadline orientated.
- Good Interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and with multidisciplinary teams across the organisation.
- Enthusiastic and willingness to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the Communications Manager in promptly responding to queries from media and internal and external stakeholders.
- To provide support at internal and external events (ie. Ensuring brand awareness, designing marketing material etc).
- To ensure that content on CAPRISA’s website and social media platforms are accurate and up-to-date.
- Track and archive media and other coverage using media monitoring service providers.
- Provide administrative support for the Communications Department.
- Contribute to the preparation of communication material for diverse audiences for a range of platforms.
- To collate information relevant for the monthly newsletter.
